“Ini Edo Shares Heartfelt Story: Choosing Surrogacy After Multiple Miscarriages & Failed Marriage”
Actress Ini Edo recently shared a deeply personal story about her challenges with miscarriages and a failed marriage. The road to motherhood was filled with heartbreak and disappointment as she faced multiple losses and the pain of a relationship that didn’t stand the test of time.
In a revealing interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the acclaimed actress and film producer expressed deep remorse over her decision to marry.
Reflecting on her marriage to American-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina, which began on November 29, 2008, Ini Edo disclosed that the union lasted only five years, ending in divorce in 2013. The experience left a lasting impact on her, shaping her views on relationships and personal choices.
During the interview, Ini Edo revealed that she felt pressured into marrying a man she did not love. “I regretted my decision to get married because it wasn’t the right move to make,” she confessed, highlighting the internal and external pressures that influenced her decision at the time. She emphasized that the marriage was not based on love, and this realization contributed significantly to her regret.
Despite the pain of her past experience, Ini Edo remains open to the idea of marriage. “If the right person comes along, I would give marriage another chance,” she stated, showing a sense of hope and resilience. Ini Edo also addressed her choice to become a mother through surrogacy, a decision that was met with curiosity and speculation. She explained, “I chose surrogacy because I had experienced several miscarriages, and I simply got tired of trying.”
The actress, who is now a proud mother, decided to take control of her own destiny. “I don’t have a husband, so I thought, why not have a child for myself, whether I have a husband or not? What other options do I have? And I wanted the child to be biologically mine. Thankfully, my eggs are viable, so I went ahead with it.”
